Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG),

Tamilnadu at IIT Madras

The Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) for Tamilnadu was established in the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) in June 2004 to help rural Tamilnadu upgrade their technologies. It has been conceived by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt. of India (PSA) as a synergizing and catalyzing mechanism to provide a higher level of S&T intervention and support than hitherto achieved.

IIT Madras initiated development of technologies which are of immediate relevance to society. RuTAG is one such project aimed at identifying technology gaps and improving these for the benefit of rural India. This project is supported by the office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.
